Overview

The Strategic Analytics Lead plays a critical role in supporting the Office of the General Council at Vanguard. This individual identifies emerging legal, regulatory, and control risks within a rapidly evolving architecture and translates them into data‑driven insights that strengthen governance, compliance, and strategic decision‑making.

Operating with significant autonomy, the Analytics Lead develops new analytical capabilities, helps define enterprise‑aligned metrics, and builds visibility into risk and control issues across the platform ecosystem. This role provides the opportunity to influence a high‑impact transformation while establishing the analytical foundation for risk‑aware innovation at Vanguard.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Analytical Leadership

  • Partner with OGC leadership, program teams, and technology partners to understand evolving risks and data needs as new platforms are deployed.
  • Provide thought leadership on how analytics can improve legal, regulatory, and control oversight across the transformation.
  • Shape the analytical strategy for monitoring platform ecosystem changes, including risk indicators, control gaps, policy alignment, and data integrity.
  • Serve as OGC’s analytics liaison to enterprise data and technology teams, ensuring that data quality, lineage, accessibility, and governance meet legal and control requirements.

Risk Identification & Insights

  • Proactively identify emerging legal, regulatory, operational, and entitlement‑related risks driven by new architectures, data flows, integrations, and control structures.
  • Translate complex legal and control requirements into measurable metrics, dashboards, and insights for senior decision‑makers.
  • Analyze platform ecosystem data to surface trends, issue patterns, risk hotspots, and areas requiring escalation or remediation.

Analytics Development & Automation

  • Design and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reporting tools that track OGC‑aligned risk and governance metrics.
  • Develop analytical tools and automated solutions to support early detection of legal, compliance, and control risks.
  • Enhance reporting mechanisms using automation, scalable design, and advanced analytics.
  • Ensure analytical outputs integrate into enterprise issue management, risk frameworks, and governance routines.

Influence & Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Operate with independence, setting analytical priorities and driving execution across teams.
  • Influence outcomes and align stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to leadership, technology partners, and senior stakeholders.
  • Promote consistency and rigor in evaluating legal and control impacts of new platform capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in data analytics, statistics, information systems, or related field preferred.
  • 8–12+ years of analytics experience in risk, controls, compliance, legal/regulatory functions, or enterprise transformation.
  • Strong understanding of legal/regulatory risk domains, technology controls, data governance, and enterprise issue management.
  • Proven ability to translate qualitative legal/control expectations into quantitative metrics and actionable insights.
  • Proficiency with analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, AWS, and Python.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills with the ability to identify emerging risks.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for non‑technical audiences.
  • Highly self‑directed and comfortable navigating ambiguity and leading work across diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying AI or ML techniques to automation, risk detection, or process efficiency.
  • Experience supporting large‑scale platform transformations or architecture modernization.
  • Familiarity with financial services legal frameworks, regulatory environments, and control structures.
