Are you a highly experienced Structural Revit Drafter who thrives on turning engineering concepts and markups into complete, coordinated, constructible drawing sets — with minimal supervision? One of our Florida-based clients is looking for a Structural Revit Drafter to join their structural engineering team full-time, taking ownership of structural models and drawing packages across a wide range of project types and materials.
BetterPros unlocks human potential by offering competitive compensation, flexibility, constant learning and growth, and the chance to work anywhere you want with one of our +130 active clients across the United States.
What you'll do:
Develop complete structural models and construction-document packages in Revit.
Work independently from engineering sketches, concepts, calculations, and markups.
Translate design intent into coordinated structural plans, sections, schedules, and details.
Take ownership of structural drawing packages from initial setup through final issuance.
Set up and manage structural Revit models, including levels, grids, coordinates, worksets, linked models, view templates, filters, families, and sheets.
Model and document structural columns, beams, girders, joists, slabs, foundations, walls, braced frames, moment frames, openings, and miscellaneous structural elements.
Determine the plans, sections, details, dimensions, notes, and references required to produce clear and constructible documents.
Coordinate structural models and drawings with architectural, MEP, civil, fabrication, and other consultant information.
Review updated architectural models and identify changes that affect structural documentation.
Identify and help resolve clashes involving structural framing, ducts, penetrations, shafts, stairs, elevators, slab openings, walls, and foundations.
Review drawings for constructability and identify conditions that could generate RFIs or field conflicts.
Track and accurately incorporate engineer markups throughout all affected views, sheets, details, and schedules.
Perform thorough QA/QC reviews before permit, bid, or construction issuance.
Verify grids, dimensions, elevations, member sizes, references, details, annotations, and coordination across the full drawing set.
Identify incomplete, inconsistent, or potentially incorrect information and communicate questions efficiently to the engineer.
Maintain organized, accurate, and efficient Revit models.
Troubleshoot Revit visibility, worksharing, coordinate, linked-model, warning, performance, and model-stability issues.
Create or modify structural families, tags, templates, and standard details when necessary.
Support the development and improvement of Revit/BIM standards and workflows.
Review other team members' work and potentially mentor junior drafters.
What you must have:
Minimum 14 years of structural drafting or structural design-documentation experience.
Extensive recent experience using Revit for structural projects.
Proven ability to independently develop complete structural drawing packages.
Strong understanding of structural load paths and gravity and lateral systems.
Experience working with multiple structural materials and systems, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, masonry/CMU, wood and light-frame construction, cold-formed metal framing, precast concrete, and foundations, grade beams, pile caps, mat foundations, and slabs.
Experience with different project types, such as commercial, residential, multifamily, hospitality, healthcare, education, and industrial buildings.
Strong knowledge of construction-document standards and structural detailing.
Experience coordinating structural models with architectural and MEP models.
Strong understanding of constructability and how structural systems are assembled in the field.
Demonstrated QA/QC and problem-detection capabilities.
Ability to work from incomplete or schematic engineering information while clearly documenting assumptions and escalating engineering decisions appropriately.
Ability to distinguish between drafting/design assistance and decisions that must be made by the structural engineer.
Proficiency in structural Revit modeling and documentation, worksharing and central/cloud-based models, levels, grids, shared coordinates, and model origins, worksets, view templates, filters, and visibility settings, architectural and consultant-linked models, Copy/Monitor and Coordination Review, structural families and parametric content, sheets, annotations, tags, dimensions, sections, and details, and model warnings, audits, file-size management, and performance optimization.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to manage deadlines, priorities, and multiple engineering requests without sacrificing quality.
A great plus:
Experience with BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Experience with Navisworks and clash detection.
Familiarity with Dynamo, scripts, macros, or Revit add-ins.
