Starting Pay: From $23.00 per hour (higher compensation may be available based on experience)
Position Overview
We are looking for a dependable CNC Equipment Operator to support structural steel fabrication operations. This position is responsible for operating CNC-controlled machinery used to process steel components while ensuring quality, accuracy, and safe production practices.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment, understands fabrication drawings, and is comfortable operating industrial equipment in a fast-paced production setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC fabrication equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
- Load, position, and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Verify finished parts using precision measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, and squares.
- Make basic CNC programming edits or machine adjustments for varying material sizes and thicknesses.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and assist with basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Maintain an organized work area while following OSHA guidelines and established shop safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school or trade school training is a plus.
- At least two years of experience operating CNC equipment in structural steel fabrication or another heavy manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings and blueprints.
- Experience using precision measuring tools to inspect finished work.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a production team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
- Familiarity with handling large structural steel components in a fabrication shop.
