Structural Steel Welder/Fitter
Location: Cocoa, FL
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Available
Starting Pay: $24.00/hour, plus $3.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift; higher based on experience
Position Overview
We are hiring experienced Structural Steel Welders/Fitters for a shop-based fabrication role. Candidates with welding, fitting, or combined structural steel fabrication experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Review and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Measure, mark, cut, fit, align, and assemble structural steel components.
- Perform structural steel welding according to project specifications and applicable standards.
- Set up and operate fabrication machinery, equipment, and hand tools.
- Work with oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares.
- Set up and operate a track torch when required.
- Inspect materials and completed assemblies for proper dimensions, alignment, and workmanship.
- Maintain an organized work area and follow required safety practices.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other shop employees to meet production schedules and deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience measuring, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel.
- Working knowledge of welding processes, fabrication equipment, and shop tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, quality work.
- Commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to work effectively with a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Flux Core welding experience.
- Ability to successfully complete a Flux Core welding test.
- Experience setting up and operating a track torch.
- AWS or other welding certifications are a plus.
