BASIC FUNCTION/DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:


Under the direct supervision of the Student Access and Support Services Administrator, the Student Access and Support Services Assistant provides administrative and programmatic support to the Student Access and Support Services division, with a primary focus on the Homeless and Foster Youth Program, Mental Health Program, and Meal Program. This role supports students and families by carrying out duties required under McKinney‑Vento legislation, assisting with purchasing and distribution processes, connecting families to community resources, collecting required information, and supporting referrals to internal and external partners. The Assistant plays a key role in ensuring timely, compassionate, and organized support for students facing housing instability, foster care involvement, mental health needs, and food insecurity. The Assistant will also play a key role in the data collection, monitoring, and reporting of the programs.



REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Support the needs of the students experiencing homelessness and foster youth, ensuring the delivery of mandated services to facilitate students’ attendance and access to appropriate education.

  • Act as a liaison between schools, caregivers, parents, educational right holders, group homes, and other agencies.

  • Process purchase requests related to student support services, including supplies and basic needs items, in accordance with school and program guidelines.

  • Coordinate, document, and track gift card distributions for homeless and foster youth, ensuring appropriate records and compliance requirements are met.

  • Collect and organize health insurance information from families to support participation in school-based and community health mental health services.

  • Enter and maintain accurate data related to student services, referrals, purchases, and program participation.

  • Pull reports and assist with tracking data for internal monitoring, compliance, and program planning purposes.

  • Provide families with information about available school and community resources related to housing, food assistance, mental health, healthcare, and other basic needs.

  • Submit referrals to community-based organizations and support follow-up communication as needed.

  • Deliver materials, supplies, and documents to school resource centers and other designated locations.

  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with students, families, school staff, and community partners.

  • Maintain confidentiality of student and family information in compliance with applicable laws and school policies.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet the operational, educational, business, compliance, and student service needs of Altus Schools. Such duties will be consistent with the employee's qualifications and the general nature and level of the position.



KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Collect and analyze data, report trends and outcomes, and prepare clear and accurate written and oral reports. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse families and communities.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn community resource networks and referral processes.

  • Standard software applications such as Microsoft Office Word/Excel/PowerPoint.

  • Work as part of a team dedicated to growing and maintaining an environment focused on a supportive, individualized, and personalized student-learning environment.

  • Effectively and accurately communicate orally and in writing.

  • Apply legal and policy provisions to various problems consistently and correctly.

  • Ability to maintain reliable on-site attendance and punctuality in accordance with assigned work schedule.

  • TB Clearance 

  • Obtain Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance through the DOJ and FBI

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Associate degree or coursework in education, social services, or a related field.

  • Experience providing administrative or program support in a school or social services setting.

  • Experience working with homeless and foster youth, mental health programs, or student support services.

  • Bilingual in Spanish (spoken and written).



WORKING CONDITIONS:


ENVIRONMENT: Indoor, office setting; exposure to computer screens.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Hearing and speaking to exchange information with students, staff, and parents; seeing to read, proofread, perform clerical tasks and periodic work on a computer screen; intermittent sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects;  traveling to attend visits at resource centers, external venues, and staff meetings, with reliable transportation. 



WORK LOCATION AND OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is primarily performed in an in-person educational environment to support the operational, instructional, compliance, and student service needs of Altus Schools. The employee will be required to work onsite up to five (5) days per week to support school operations, instructional continuity, student services, compliance functions, staff support, meetings, training, and other operational requirements necessary for the effective functioning of the schools.


The ability to report onsite as assigned is considered an essential function of this position and is necessary to support collaboration, responsiveness, operational efficiency, supervision, and continuity of educational services.




LOCATION:


12-Month Workday Contract – 100% onsite (Monday-Friday)

SELECTION PROCESS: 


Qualified applicants will first complete a brief work styles/behavioral survey. Candidates who successfully complete this initial phase will be invited to a panel interview with School Administrators. Candidates recommended from the first interview will advance to a final interview with the Deputy Superintendent School Services and Founding Director, and the Superintendent School Services and Founder.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:


Employees are eligible for coverage beginning the first day of the month following sixty (60) days of employment.
