Substitute Librarian

Substitute Librarian, Adult, Lending, and Youth Services  

Curtis Memorial Library has an opportunity for a customer-focused professional to provide library services in adult, lending, and
youth services areas on a per diem basis. The successful candidate will have proficiency with digital literacy, extensive knowledge of current literature and information sources relevant to adult and youth patrons, and skill in providing in-depth readers’ advisory and information assistance. The librarian will ensure a safe and positive environment for patrons and may serve as the person in charge within the library.  

We are looking for a substitute with availability to work weekdays and weekends, including evenings. A commitment for each substitute would be to work at least one four-hour shift a month. We currently have a Saturday differential pay, which will be an extra $5 an hour when working on a Saturday. 

An MLS degree, or a degree pending in 2026, is ; public library experience is strongly preferred. The pay rate is $27.69/hr.  

A substitute librarian may be called to fill in long- or short-term during regular staff absences.
