  • Experience preparing and delivering daily lesson plans

  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues

  • Participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities

  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission

Professional Expectations

Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.

Teaching Responsibilities

Successful candidates will bring a high, warm, and consistent energy so that students feel both supported and inspired. Teachers should have a broad knowledge and deep understanding of the subject matter and be able to:

  • Teach students English and Writing, helping them grow in academic writing and expression

  • Inspire a passion for classic literature and thoughtful discussion

  • Present information in an engaging way with strong pacing and clear organization

  • Distill knowledge into concepts and principles that students can apply in a variety of settings

Communication and Organization

Candidates should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to:

  • Maintain purposeful and effective classroom routines

  • Communicate with parents and colleagues in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, and positive

  • Monitor and report student progress clearly and consistently

Experience working with students with specific learning disabilities is helpful but not required.
