Substitute Teacher

Part-time:  On an as-needed basis during the school year

Status: Non-Exempt, At-Will

Reports To: Office Manager

Pay Structure:

Substitute Teachers: $25 per hour

Substitute Teachers Assistant: $23 per hour

Substitute Life Lab Teacher: $23 per hour

Substitute Shark Squad Teacher: $20 per hour

Substitute Teachers at Gateway School play a vital role in supporting students and maintaining a positive, productive learning environment. They provide instructional continuity in the absence of the regular classroom teacher, adapt quickly to a variety of classroom settings, and demonstrate flexibility in meeting the diverse needs of students and staff. Substitute Teachers help keep learning moving forward by engaging students, reinforcing classroom expectations, and fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere. Through their dedication, adaptability, and care, they make a meaningful difference in the lives of students every day.

Duties:

● Substitutes are responsible for teaching specific grades or subjects for the day of their hire. Lesson plans will be provided.

● Other duties may include playground supervision or dismissal duty.

Required Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree

● Classroom teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level

● Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and parents

● Personal qualities of being flexible, energetic, creative, and collaborative.
