We are seeking a Substitute Teacher to support our Middle and High School classrooms. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, comfortable stepping into diverse learning environments, and possess broad foundational knowledge across general subject areas.


Key Responsibilities:




  • Provide instructional support across 6th–12th grade classrooms as needed.




  • Facilitate lesson plans effectively across multiple subject areas (Humanities, STEM, Arts, etc.).




  • Maintain a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment.




Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required and a valid teaching credential required. Experience teaching literacy, writing, math, science, and social studies is essential, along with the ability to differentiate instruction to support diverse learners. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong classroom management skills and creates a warm, structured, and positive learning environment, uses assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth, and communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues. A collaborative, flexible, reflective, and student-centered approach is essential, along with a commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of each child and an interest in being part of a mission-driven Jewish day school community.


Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $30/hr.

Employment Requirements


SDJA is unable to provide immigration sponsorships such as H1B Visas.  


Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and be willing to undergo both Live Scan background check and TB screening as part of the hiring process.
