As a BrightBee Substitute Teacher, you'll work with school partners at St. Hope Public Schools who are seeking versatile and dependable Substitute Teacher to join our educational team. In this role, you will step into diverse classroom environments to provide seamless instructional continuity when the regular teacher is absent.

    •  Elementary

      • 7:30am-4pm 

      • Wednesdays are early release day. School ends at 2:30pm



    • High School and Middle School 

      • 8am-4pm

      • Wednesdays are early release day. School ends at 2:30pm



    • Highest needs are Mondays and Fridays




What You’ll Be Doing



  • Prepare the classroom space and materials in accordance with provided lesson plans

  • Lead student instruction and maintain behavioral expectations 

  • Manage daily classroom tasks, including taking attendance, monitoring hall passes, and supervising lunch or recess periods as required

  • Document student progress and classroom happenings through detailed end-of-day reports to ensure the permanent teacher is fully informed upon their return.

  • Support students with learning and classroom activities

  • Help manage behavior using positive reinforcement

  • Assist during lunch, recess, and school activities

  • Work closely with teachers and school staff

  • Must be comfortable leading large groups and managing a classroom environment

  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and pivot between different educational settings at a moment’s notice.


✅ Basic Requirements



  • Bachelors Degree

  • California Substitute teaching permit or California Teacher Certification 

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus


Before You Start



To keep students safe, you’ll need to:



  • Pass a background check

  • Follow safety and reporting guidelines

  • Complete required school clearances which you are responsible for paying.

    • Costs associated with the clearance process are the sole responsibility of the candidate, as this engagement is for an independent contractor role rather than a traditional employment position.  Requirements vary by state but may include the cost of a background check, obtaining a copy of any college transcript you have, and the cost of completing Mandated Reporter training.  The average cost of completing clearance in California is around $130.
