Superintendent Job Description
Summary:
The superintendent's job is to run the day-to-day operations on the construction site and control the short-term schedule, ensuring workers and subcontractors operate safely, and efficiently in a coordinated manner.
The role of the superintendent also includes important quality control and subcontractor coordination responsibilities.
The project manager and superintendent need to cooperate and share project control effectively.
Responsibilities:
Safety
· Complete Daily Job Hazard Assessments with all field crews and subcontractors, submit daily.
· OSHA 300 forms as required
· Maintain required Safety paperwork, including, but not limited to Safety Data Sheets for each product, and ensure that all subcontract crews have Safety Data Sheets for all products.
· Complete Safety responsibility for job site assigned.
· Enforce Personal Protective Equipment usage, included but not limited to hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, vests.
· Job cleanliness and organization to facilitate safe work and travel on job site
Record Keeping
· Complete Daily report during the course of the day, before leaving site to include: hours, number of employees/subcontractors on site, pictures, and notes describing full activities and conversations.
· Receiving Reports and receipts for fuel, any credit card or account purchases
· Keep current set of plans in your possession, or at a location central to the site that are marked as-built, and not removed, or used by other trades for reference or construction use.
· Provide pictures, notes and necessary information for backcharges to subcontractors
· Provide information to project manager for change orders and field changes including markup on plans, trades involved and assist in subcontractor pricing for change order to owner.
Planning, Communication
· Coordinate all work on site, including subcontractors, materials needs with project manager to maintain schedule, within budgeted cost.
· Inspect all work for compliance with plans and quality
· Communicate all required inspections with permitting department
· Communicate short term schedule (two week look ahead) with project manager, and subcontractors in WRITTEN form. This only needs to be handwritten but delivered to, and scheduled with all parties involved on a weekly basis.
