Job Description - Superintendent of Cast Shop


 Summary: Leads a team of production supervisors and process owners. Directs, plans, and coordinates activities concerned with production of “cake” for the Rolling Mill. Creates a workplace environment that fosters and sustains safety performance through the effective engagement of the supervisory team to the hourly workforce using behavioral management techniques. Leads the Cast Shop Team to achieve operational goals and objectives. Ensures continuous improvement of the scrap, melting, refractory and work management processes. Collaboratively establishes priorities with Production Control in keeping with effective operations and cost factors, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment. Confers with management personnel to establish and implement company policies and goals and production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to share data regarding Cast Shop process and performance. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership for the successful day to day operations of the Cast Shop. 
  • Cleary establish, communicate and manage the achievement of production goals and performance objectives that align with operation’s annual business plan. 
  • Direct, guide and report on continuous improvement of scrap, melting, refractory and work management processes through consistent data reporting and updates to the operation team on key process issues.
  • Collaborate with operation and support stakeholders to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Regularly communicate, discuss and apply Revere’s Vision and Mission Statement, and Revere’s philosophy on “Safety as a Value” with the supervisory team and process owners.
  • Reinforces a clear understanding for the supervisor team on why use of Revere supervisor leader standard work is required to achieve positive safety, quality and productivity results.
  • Ensures basic work expectations are established for the hourly workforce and supervisors understand their role upholding Revere’s policies.
  • Reinforces LIST/MARC/BMT techniques to actively manage performance.
  • Reinforces the importance of effective employee and labor relations through strong employee engagement processes, utilizing the HR Team as resources. 
  • Removes production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
  • Coordinates production processes and activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Collaborates with vendors as needed to develop processes to improve manufacturing output.

Requirements

  Qualifications:

  •  5-7 years of Leadership experience in a manufacturing setting, 10-13 years of production or maintenance.
  •  Highly collaborative and reputation for including stakeholders and support team in process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with progressive levels of supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills.  

Special Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, will be regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • May be exposed to wet or humid conditions. 
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • May be regularly exposed to high noise environments.
  • May be exposed to extremely dusty environments.

Education/Training:

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • Experience in a copper casting environment
