Surety Bond Insurance Producer

Overview:
Varney Agency is seeking a motivated Bonding Insurance Producer to help construction and commercial clients secure the surety bonds they need for projects and licensing. This role combines financial analysis, relationship-building, and strategic market placement with top surety companies.  This position may work out of any of our Maine branches including Scarborough, Auburn, Bangor or Houlton. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Generate new business through networking, prospecting, and industry events
• Evaluate client financials, credit, and work-in-progress reports to negotiate appropriate surety program
• Match clients with appropriate surety markets and prepare submissions
• Provide ongoing business and financial guidance to help clients increase bonding limits
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and surety underwriters
• Manage program renewals and support clients through claims or disputes

• Active Property & Casualty license, or the ability to obtain within 90 days
• 10+ Years operating in the Contract Surety or Construction Industry space
• Strong financial literacy, including reading balance sheets and analyzing construction-specific financial schedules
• Knowledge of the local construction industry, with a focus on public works
• Excellent communication, public speaking, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
