Surgical Cleaning Technician - FT - Days - Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center

Maintains a safe environment including the use of equipment and supplies.  Assists with the movement and preparation of equipment for a procedure 

• Job Function 01: Cleans Operating Rooms and content within the procedural area between procedures utilizing departmental and EVS guidelines. Disposes of hazardous wastes according to protocol. Maintains standard precautions.
• Job Function 02: Maintains general cleaning of intra-operative area. Cleans areas outside OR rooms, examples include but are not limited to, sub-sterile rooms, dirty utility rooms, in between OR rooms, janitor closet, hallways, holding areas, doctor and OR lounge, specimen room, clean and dirty dumbwaiters, lockers, bathrooms, OR desk and Coordinators offices.
• Job Function 03: Maintains cleanliness and organization of equipment that is stored outside the procedure room and within storage closets. Assist the surgical teams with retrieving and retuning equipment.
• Job Function 04: Assist in transferring the patient under the directions of the surgical team. Ensure patient safety by placing patient side rails up and locking the stretchers prior to and during transfer. Maintains safety of patient during transport. Ensures medical lines (IV, urinary cath…) are secured to prevent injury.
• Job Function 05: Maintains isolation procedures when necessary.
• Job Function 06: Replenishes housekeeping supplies in diverse areas within the department. Notification of par deficits requiring reordering/restocking. Actively participates in cost containment through effective use of supplies and resources.
• Job Function 07: Maintains a safe environment of care in accordance with hospital policies and other regulatory agencies Practices universal precautions Demonstrates knowledge and practices departmental safety procedures including safe handling of equipment, isolation cleaning practices, and hazardous substances. Adheres to and demonstrates hospital, patient and/or personal safety procedures. 
• Job Function 08: Maintains security of area as appropriate, locks doors, turns off lights, keeps utility storage area and custodial equipment clean and in good order; appropriately stored.  Reports damage or abuse of property; maintenance concerns, any fire or safety hazards; observes and makes reports on areas in need of repair.
• Job Function 09: Participates in unit-based goals; performance improvement projects; functions as a team member to achieve department goals.
• Job Function 10: As part of the annual evaluation process, submits a list of year end accomplishments as well as goals that are reviewed and mutually agreed upon for the coming year. Personal/ Professional growth will be maintained through AHS OD classes, in-service education, conferences, and literature.
• Other tasks which may be required: assignments that meet the needs of the department

• High School graduate or GED required.
• Ability to read write and speak English. 
• Experience in environmental services in a healthcare setting preferred.
