What You’ll Do


As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in supporting safe, efficient, and high‑quality surgical care. Working under the supervision of the RN, you’ll ensure surgeons and the surgical team have everything they need for successful procedures. Your responsibilities will include:




  • Supporting the RN and surgical team by assisting with limited direct patient care.

  • Handling instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.

  • Maintaining a strong understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipating the needs of the surgeon.

  • Ensuring a sterile field is properly set up, maintained, and protected throughout the procedure.

  • Cleaning, preparing, and packaging instruments for disinfection and sterilization.

  • Assisting with room turnover between cases, including cleaning and preparing the environment for the next patient.

  • Upholding patient safety standards and maintaining required clinical competencies based on scope and training.

  • Adhering to AORN Recommended Practices and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrating responsibility in time management, resource use, and supply handling.

  • Participating as a collaborative and supportive team member.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.


Preferred Experience



  • One year of surgical experience


Required Skills & Experience



  • Basic knowledge of surgical principles, standards, and practices

  • Ability to respond appropriately to changes, problems, and emergency situations

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Flexibility and accountability in daily work



What We’re Looking For


We’re seeking a detail‑oriented, safety‑focused professional who thrives in a fast‑paced surgical environment and is committed to delivering exceptional care as part of a collaborative team.


Required Education & Credentials




  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or an LPN program

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Certification in Surgical Technology or LPN licensure in the State of Iowa
