Based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.\n\nThis position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.\n\nPosition Overview:\n\nThe Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, monitor the battle collectively, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and throughout all flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the capabilities of current and future missile defense systems.\n\nEssential Functions:\n\n * Work will be carried out as part of an Agile Scrum team, guided by a Team Lead who reports to the C2BMC Regional Systems Engineering Manager\n\n * Work will be performed in a closed area with no remote work options available\n\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\nPlease list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.\n\n * A Bachelor\u2019s Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master\u2019s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 4 years of relevant work experience\n\n * Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start\n\n * Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs\n\n\n\n\nThis position will perform some or all of the following duties, focusing on early-phase (concept, requirements, and design) activities of the Systems-Engineering Development Lifecycle:\n\n * Lead the development of new system concepts by transforming stakeholder needs, gathered through documentation and solicitation, into clear, reviewable technical approaches\n\n * Perform requirements elicitation and decomposition using behavioral artifacts such as use cases, activity diagrams, and sequence diagrams to convey understanding of the required behaviors and the system\u0027s performance during development\n\n * Lead the development of physical and logical system models that capture the system under development, using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools\n\n * Lead system interface development, as documented in Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), by translating system and interface requirements into message-level details sufficient to coordinate interface development\n\n * Support formal and informal engineering technical reviews\n\n * Create, review, and critique interface documents, system requirements, verification documentation, architectural documentation, and engineering estimates\n\n * Interface with key stakeholders, including the MDA customer and working-level counterparts, as needed\n\n * Engage in Agile development activities such as iteration planning and providing status updates\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Master\u2019s Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred\n\n * Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification\n\n * Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)\n\n * Candidates for this role should ideally possess some or all of the following preferred qualifications:\n\n * Systems Engineer with 9+ years of experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems engineers to develop solutions across all aspects of the Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle\n\n * Demonstrated experience in all responsibilities of this role\n\n * Experience regularly interacting with customers, specifically in eliciting customer needs and requirements\n\n * Experience with at least one element of the Missile Defense System\n\n * Experience with one or more elements involved in Space Defense, Space Domain Awareness, or other Space Missions\n\n * Experience with complex Command and Control Systems, especially those with extensive networking capabilities\n\n * Experience performing many of the responsibilities of this position, with a particular focus on concept development and requirements decomposition\n\n * Experience with using MBSE approaches and tools (e.g., Cameo)\n\n * Experience working on tasks where failure to achieve good results typically results in program delays and wasted expenditure of resources\n\n * Ability to clearly and concisely communicate (written and verbal) with others, present technical content, and receive critical feedback\n\n * Ability to support short-notice and/or urgent tasks without a loss of efficiency\n\n\n\n\nWhat We Can Offer You:\n\nNorthrop Grumman offers a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment that fosters your growth, supporting both your success and the company\u0027s. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
