Job Description - Talent Sourcer at Fifty Years

Job Description

We’re looking for you if you love finding exceptional people with rare skills! You can make a dent by helping 50Y companies grow and by helping us grow. 

You’ll be the first contact whenever one of 50Y companies is hiring. You’ll source world class talent for portfolio companies that will enable the next stage of growth -- whether that be a scrappy chemical engineer who can also build prototypes in a 3 people team or a CFO with pre-IPO experience in synthetic biology. You might help pre-screen candidates to save our founders time. You’ll also build all the tools and networks to anticipate the needs of the portfolio as well as create and nurture talent networks in niche areas relevant for the 50Y network. You might help teach our portfolio how to recruit by sharing processes for managing talent pipelines. In short: as the 50Y Recruiter you will do anything and everything that can help 50Y companies hire world class talent!

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who will...

  • Quickly grasp what kind of talent 50Y companies are looking to hire whether it be the technical background required of a chemical engineer with expertise in solvent extraction from nutraceuticals or the cultural fit and mindset required for a hypergrowth synbio company

  • Build tools and hiring processes at 50Y to improve and automate sourcing and recruiting for 50Y companies

  • Source world class candidates for 50Y companies

  • Source and lead networking efforts into potential talent communities for 50Y founders;

  • Be proactive in supporting our 50Y companies with whatever they may need;

  • Help identify and build networks within talent communities for 50Y companies;

  • Build resources and guides for 50Y founders on how to recruit world class talent as well as help them hire in-house recruiters.

Must-haves:

  • Have excellent verbal communication and writing skills, both for internal notes and external communication

  • Smart generalist able to understand science-heavy, technical writing, and abstract concepts to help with sourcing

  • Great project manager: highly organized, process-driven, and detail-oriented

  • Entrepreneurial, action-oriented, and independent

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment without losing focus on the big picture

  • Experience in a startup environment preferred

  • Willingness to work after hours and on weekends as required 

  • Hungry to learn and willing to make mistakes :)
