Job Description - Tax Accountant

Pay: $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

Why This Is a Great Opportunity

  • Work directly with individuals and small business owners on meaningful tax and financial matters.
  • Handle a diverse mix of individual, corporate, and partnership returns rather than repetitive return preparation.
  • Join a well-established local practice where your tax knowledge and client relationships are highly valued.
  • Expand your involvement in tax planning, entity selection, and resolving federal and state tax matters.
  • Work closely with the owner and have a direct impact on clients and the continued growth of the practice.
  • Compensation structure is negotiable based on experience, credentials, and tax expertise.
  • We are primarily seeking a full-time professional, with potential flexibility outside of tax season for the right candidate.

Location: This is a fully on-site, client-facing position in Bunnell, Florida. You will work directly with clients in our office, so this role is not available remotely.

Note: Candidates must have 5+ years of professional tax preparation experience, including strong experience preparing Form 1040 individual returns. You must also be comfortable working directly with clients and using professional commercial tax software. Tax season requires a demanding schedule, generally 6 to 7 days per week from approximately January 15 through April 15.

About Us

We are a local tax and accounting practice serving individuals and small businesses with professional, personalized support. Our team assists clients with tax preparation, tax planning, business formation, accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and related financial needs. We value accuracy, professionalism, strong client relationships, and practical advice.

Confidential Employer.

  • Review client financial and tax documentation to identify missing information and potential tax considerations.
  • Communicate with clients by phone, email, and in person regarding returns, documentation, tax planning, and tax-related questions.
  • Provide basic guidance to small business owners regarding entity structure and tax considerations.

  • Work directly with the owner while independently managing assigned client work.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional, client-facing tax preparation experience.
  • Strong experience preparing Form 1040 individual income tax returns.

  • Professional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with clients throughout the day.
  • Basic knowledge of small business entity structures and related tax considerations.
  • Enrolled Agent or CPA credential preferred.

  • Use your tax expertise across individual and small business matters.
  • Gain exposure to tax planning, entity structure, and client advisory work.
  • Work closely with decision-makers in a smaller, relationship-driven environment.
  • Enjoy significant responsibility and autonomy based on your experience.
