Tax Director

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Tax Director to join their Tax team in Atlanta. This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the most respected public accounting firms in the country, serving clients in industries such as manufacturing, real estate, construction, technology, transportation, private equity, financial services, and professional services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform technical tax reviews and approve tax returns and government tax examinations of varying complexity.
• Ensure timely, accurate preparation of federal and state income tax returns in compliance with applicable laws.
• Delegate and manage tax research projects for efficient, accurate deliverables.
• Participate in client meetings and tax planning to support larger clients.
• Serve as a resource for tax preparers and Business Assurance staff on tax issues.
• Assume client service responsibility, working directly with clients when delegated by the Partner.
• Communicate important tax developments affecting clients to the appropriate firm personnel.
• Supervise and provide on-the-job training to the tax team.
• Assist the Business Assurance (Audit) Department with large client engagements when necessary.

Qualifications:

• CPA license is required.
• Minimum 8 years of public accounting experience, with proven progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research.
• At least 2 years of experience representing clients before tax authorities.
• At least 1 year of experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent; Masters degree in Taxation preferred.
• Minimum 40 hours of continuing education annually.
• Strong proficiency with CCH ProSystem fx Tax or other tax automation software is preferred.
• Strong client service orientation, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
