Location: This is a full-time opportunity based in Portland, Maine. New team members work primarily on-site during their first year to build strong relationships and become fully integrated with the team, with meaningful day-to-day flexibility when life requires it. After the first year, employees may transition to a hybrid schedule if that is their preference.
Note: Candidates must have 6+ years of directly relevant public accounting tax experience, including meaningful leadership experience managing teams and complex client engagements. An active CPA license or equivalent credential such as an EA is required. Candidates coming exclusively from private industry or without prior public accounting experience will not be considered.

Job Description
- Provide strategic tax advisory and planning services to closely held businesses, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Lead the review and delivery of complex tax returns, with significant exposure to S Corporations, partnerships, and individual taxation.
- Advise clients on complex tax issues, planning opportunities, business structuring, and strategies designed to improve tax efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and develop tax managers, seniors, and staff while creating an environment of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Manage complex client engagements while maintaining high standards for quality, efficiency, profitability, and client service.
- Develop strong client relationships and become a trusted resource for both tax matters and broader business decisions.
- Research complex tax matters and clearly communicate practical solutions to clients and internal teams.
- Partner with firm leadership on strategic initiatives and the continued development of the tax practice.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and participate in business development efforts.
- Build specialized expertise across key industries and provide consultative, value-added advice beyond traditional tax compliance.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of directly relevant public accounting tax experience.
- Previous leadership experience at the senior, manager, senior manager, director, or comparable level.
- Active CPA license or equivalent credential such as an EA.
- Strong experience with tax planning and compliance for closely held businesses and their owners.
- Strong knowledge of S Corporations, partnerships, and individual taxation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex engagements.
- Strong client advisory, relationship-building, project management, and communication skills.
- Experience with CCH Axcess, Caseware, CCH Fixed Assets, or comparable tax and accounting platforms is preferred.
