The Teacher is responsible for utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and evidence-based teaching methods to manage the classroom and create an optimal learning environment for all students on their case load. Teachers oversee the IEPs, lessons, and data tracking involved with providing quality ABA services to Alpine students. They communicate daily with parents and collaborate with the Curriculum Specialist, School Director, BCBA, and other school personnel to ensure student success. Teachers actively participate in training (in house and community) and apply what is learned into the classroom.
Position Type: Exempt (Salaried)/Instructional
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00-3:30 (30 minute lunch) during school year
Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:00 (30 minute lunch) as needed during Summer
May include occasional evenings and weekends as needed for school and marketing events
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students on case load
Develop, implement, and oversee direct instruction for each student on caseload and update lessons weekly based on school’s curricula and the students’ IEP goals
Determine reinforcers for each student on case load
Collect and graph data on student progress on a daily basis
Write and send daily communication logs to parents
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and concerns via quarterly in-person meetings and monthly parent teacher meetings,
Maintain organization of classroom environment and student materials
Always maintain student safety
Train and oversee Instructors assigned to classroom(s)
Maintain positive interactions with students, parents, and co-workers
Submit all required paperwork such as attendance logs, IEPs, lesson progress charts, behavior plans, lesson plans, and report cards to supervisor per deadlines provided by School Director
Consult with Curriculum Specialist, School Director, and BCBA regarding parent concerns and difficult students
Collaborate with fellow teachers as needed
Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings
Requirements
Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher in special education, psychology, or related field
A minimum of two years’ experience in teaching special needs children required
RBT certification is a plus
Previous ABA experience preferred
