Teacher (Math) Position Overview

Job Status: Full Time, Exempt
Location: Las Vegas, NV (Central)
Reports to: Director of School Operations (DSO), Assistant Principal (AP), and/or CEO/Head of School
Compensation: Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, with a range from $50,000 - $65,000.

Responsibilities:

What follows are the core responsibilities of WYLEES’ teachers. However, given the complexity of school founding, an “all hands on deck” mindset is essential, and teachers should expect to occasionally perform responsibilities outside those captured here.

Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

• Create an atmosphere where each student feels valued, supported, and empowered.


• Coordinate, organize, and perform the day-to-day teaching functions for the subject area for which the Employee is hired.


• Collaborate with subject area and grade level teacher cohorts for planning and assessment purposes, and to intentionally share the workload of teaching.


• Lead school instructional activities, including developing, learning about, and/or sharing innovative and effective teaching strategies that align with our mission to engage, excite, and empower our students and our vision of empowering tomorrow's leaders to change the world today through creativity, collaboration, and civic engagement.


• Serve as a school champion for students, helping them to understand and prioritize their individual needs and aspirations, while supporting them as they learn to take ownership of their learning.


• Model the WYLEES’ Way for students, staff, and stakeholders.


• Work with stakeholders, including students, staff, families, and community organizations, to understand opportunities to create community-focused Project Based Learning (PBL) learning experiences for students.
  Other duties as assigned.

Student and Family Support

• Conduct proactive family outreach and communications regarding student outcomes, strengthening the partnership between families and the school.


• Schedule grade-level Family / Teacher Conferences, as needed, to support student development.

Safety Management

• Adhere to safety protocols and visitor procedures, and participate in monthly safety drills and related staff training.


• Maintain confidentiality of student information.


• Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date records of student attendance, academic performance and growth (i.e. grades and assessment data), and behavior incidents, interventions, and outcomes (as needed).

School Culture and Community Engagement

• Act as a lead contributor to WYLEES' welcoming environment, ensuring a consistently positive impression for students, families, and visitors.


• Assist with community engagement and recruiting events.


• Model and support a community of care both inside and outside of the classroom for all WYLEES’ stakeholders, including students, families, and staff.

Qualifications Skills and Characteristics

• Loves working with people, especially middle school students


• Bilingual (Spanish/English) highly preferred


• Possesses a work ethic and personal belief system that aligns with the mission and vision of WYLEES


• Prioritizes building own leadership skills


• Is consistently self-reflective and seeks feedback from stakeholders on their leadership skills, performance, and mindsets


• Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to interact and forge relationships with students, parents, staff and community members


• Demonstrates expertise in managing projects and timelines to ensure timely completion of tasks with competing deadlines and with frequent interruptions


• Demonstrates expertise in building/maintaining positive school/work culture and the ability to articulate effective instructional strategies to teachers, university interns, and/or and other staff

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.


• Nevada teaching certification/license, with appropriate certifications/endorsement area(s).


• At least 2 years of successful teaching experience highly preferred; demonstrated promise to become an effective Lead Teacher and manage complex and often competing priorities


• Extensive experience with computers, Information Technology, Infinite Campus, Clever, Google Workspace (especially Drive, Meet, Docs, Sheets, and Slides), Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Zoom, and Canva highly preferred; experience with ChatGPT, Copilot, and/or other Artificial Intelligence Large Language Models preferred.


• Valid driver's license required.
