Adelphi is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide direct and consultative services to students within a shool distict in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Teacher of the Visually Impaired will assess student needs, provide specialized instruction, support IEP development, adapt educational materials, provide braille-related services, and collaborate with school personnel and families.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Current North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visual Impairment.
• Knowledge of IEPs, accessible instruction, braille, and material adaptation.
• Experience with assistive technology and low-vision devices.
• Experience with Cortical Visual Impairment preferred.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel between assigned schools.
Responsibilities
• Assess students’ educational and functional visual needs.
• Develop and support measurable IEP goals and objectives.
• Provide direct specialized instruction to students with visual impairments.
• Adapt instructional materials into accessible formats.
• Provide or coordinate braille transcription and instruction.
• Teach students to use assistive technology and low-vision devices.
• Consult with teachers, families, and related service professionals.
• Monitor student progress and maintain daily service documentation.
• Attend IEP meetings, staff meetings, and parent conferences.
• Travel between assigned schools and comply with District requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
