What You'll Do
Core responsibilities include:
Support and supervision in the classroom, in support of both the individual student and an overall safe and stimulating educational environment.
Utilizing the student profile to proactively plan, preparing, and developing various teaching aids for use in the classroom to support student success, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts.
Providing redirection as needed to support appropriate classroom behaviors.
Supervising and supporting student breaks from the classroom as needed.
Supporting the student in learning to identify and proactively prepare for challenges such as sensory stimuli, social discomfort, etc., and to develop strategies for self-regulating and returning to class.
Presenting and reinforcing class subject matter to the student, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role-playing as needed.
Assisting the student with assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
In the absence of the teacher, may confer with parents on student progress.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Credentials
Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, dependable, creative, and cooperative with a sense of humor
Mental stamina to work positively with students for the length of scheduled workday
Sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations
Experience working with gifted/LD students a plus
High school diploma or GED
At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
