Team Lead

SUMMARY

Team Leads provide the most fundamental level of leadership at Hardwire and are directly responsible for all aspects of their team’s performance in production and safety.  This position requires a significant degree of leadership, organization, and attention to detail.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Team Lead will handle a wide variety of situations and will be responsible for the following:

QUALITY PRODUCT DELIVERY

• Coordinate with the Production Manager to establish production and quality goals.


• Meet all team production requirements and ensure on-time delivery of quality products that complement the overall Hardwire production process.


• Coordinate with adjacent Team Leads to support overall production goals, product flow, and personnel requirements.


• Communicate with team members to ensure all daily production goals and requirements are understood.


• Review and analyze production to determine any causes of non-conformity.


• Develop and implement procedures to eliminate process or equipment problems and improve product quality – this will be coordinated with the Production, Maintenance, and Quality Managers.

SAFETY, TRAINING & SECURITY

• Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work environment.


• Help to train and supervise employees in assembly methods, quality operations, and safety.


• Support and emphasize the safety and quality commitments of the team, ensuring environmental health and safety policies are adhered to.


• Ensure all team members wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and appropriate attire.


• Ensure all team members understand physical security requirements at Hardwire.


• Help to coordinate safety, forklift, and other required training for employees, ensuring processes and procedures are communicated and reinforced.

• Train employees in required Costpoint and Production Database operations.


• Ensure employees have access and understanding of company resources such as the Hardwire Employee Manual and all Intranet resources.


• Immediately report critical information to the Production Manager or key Hardwire personnel:  personnel injury or accident; equipment, quality, or process malfunction; hazardous material spill or event; inability to meet product timeline; safety concern; or significant personnel issues.


• Be prepared to brief visitors on the functions and products associated with team areas.

• Help create a working environment with open communication.

• Coordinate the work schedules and attendance of team members and ensure time worked is accurately documented in the Costpoint ERP system.


• Establish goals for team members and review semi-annually during performance appraisals.


• Communicate changes in company policies, schedules, production or procedures to all team members.


• Directly support the Production Manager in all aspects of daily operations.


• Notify the Production Manager of any anticipated personnel shortages.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES

• Working knowledge of quality manufacturing procedures.

• Proven understanding of manufacturing environment and ability to manage multiple priorities in a plant setting and to easily adapt to changing situations.

• Demonstrated commitment to quality and safety.


• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively solve problems both individually and collaboratively.


• Ability to clearly communicate results and goals.


• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.


• Ability to understand and resolve technical difficulties, interface with internal engineering/technical experts and external technical representatives.


• Knowledge of PC’s and software programs Word, Excel, Outlook (or equivalent) and PowerPoint.


• Must possess integrity, sound judgment, initiative and a sense of urgency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Demonstrated manufacturing and leadership experience at Hardwire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• The position requires frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work performed in a combination of manufacturing and office environment.


• Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils.
