Role Summary






Rivian is looking for a Maintenance Team Leader to provide direct technical and supervisory leadership to our Equipment Maintenance Technicians and apprentices supporting plant operations in Normal, IL. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the team's technical proficiency, driving efficiency, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and equipment reliability. As a Team Leader, you will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), guiding complex troubleshooting and ensuring all maintenance activities are accurately documented. You will work closely with your Group Leader to standardize maintenance procedures and drive continuous improvement. This role is located in Normal, IL









Responsibilities






  • Coach and mentor lower-level maintenance technicians and apprentices, actively developing their skills in electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems.

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the team, leading complex root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts on state-of-the-art equipment.

  • Provide formal and on-the-job training and guidance for apprentices, ensuring their adherence to safety standards and proper maintenance techniques.

  • Allocate daily work assignments, manage workflow, and provide immediate technical assistance to the team during break-fix and preventative maintenance tasks.

  • Drive accountability for compliance with 5S and housekeeping standards across the team.

  • Work directly with the Group Leader to ensure all maintenance tasks, repairs, and updates are accurately and promptly documented in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as SAP/Ranger.

  • Review, update, and approve CMMS work order history to ensure a robust maintenance knowledge base.

  • Actively participate in and lead advanced troubleshooting, performing diagnostics on PLC-controlled equipment, electrical circuitry, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

  • Utilize predictive maintenance technologies to interpret equipment performance data and proactively schedule necessary repairs.

  • Drive and participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities, leading the team in implementing process and cost-saving improvements.

  • Ensure the team's adherence to all safety-related policies, rules, regulations, and technical instructions.

  • Actively promote situational awareness and lead by example in identifying and correcting unsafe behaviors or conditions.

  • Be accountable for the quality and compliance of all repair and maintenance work performed by the team.









Qualifications

  • Must be a current RIV 4 Maintenance Technician
  • Understand electrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems. Can analyze problems and perform repairs 
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate 
  • May be required to travel 
  • Electrical Certification (preferred)
  • Industrial Maintenance experience (preferred)
  • Skilled Trades degree or experience with an apprenticeship program (preferred)
  • PLC programming experience (preferred)
  • Experience with maintenance of hydraulics, pneumatics (preferred)








Pay Disclosure






The salary range for this role is $43.00 - $45.00 an hour for Illinois based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
 

 The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
