Technical Director, R & D, Polyurethane - West Long Branch, NJ

Northpointe Human Capital is currently looking for a Senior Chemist to join our client’s growing manufacturing business.  As a Technical Director of Research and Development, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of polyurethane foam formulations for both industrial and retail customers.  This position provides you with the opportunity to utilize cutting edge chemical technologies to invent new polyurethane based foam products.

1. Produce creative polyurethane foam solutions to identified customer and consumer needs. Strong collaboration with the Marketing organization in understanding customer needs.

2. Develop new polyurethane foam formulations for both industrial and retail customers.

3. Support pouring lines at manufacturing facilities. Testing and evaluating foam pour samples to optimize formulation before scale up.

4. Create patentable new polyurethane foam formulations that result in measurable improvement in performance or cost.

5. Develop seasonal foam formulations to insure consistent product quality from the pour lines at manufacturing facilities.

6. Utilize cutting edge chemical technologies to invent new polyurethane based foam products

7. Keep up to date on the latest technologies in the polyurethane foam market, processes, developments, trends, etc, and apply to products.

• Ph.D. Organic Chemistry, Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry

• Experience in all aspects of developing and optimizing both visco- elastic and conventional polyurethane foam formulations

• Proven experience in product development

• Knowledge of foam product methodologies

• Relevant industry knowledge

• Experience with relevant software applications
