Temp Volunteer and Program Coordinator

Job Description - Temp Volunteer and Program Coordinator

Position Summary

The Volunteer & Elder Experience Coordinator coordinates and supports volunteers across GenPride while helping ensure LGBTQ+ older adults have welcoming, meaningful and affirming experiences within the organization. They coordinate volunteers, center operations, and the logistics that support programs and services in the GenPride Center, online, and throughout Seattle and King County.

Grounded in a queer, intersectional, and age equity lens, this role builds community capacity by supporting and coordinating LGBTQ+ older adults and volunteers to largely plan, lead, and sustain programs and activities.

This .75 FTE, non-exempt position is based primarily at the GenPride Center. The GenPride Center is located in Capital Hill neighborhood and is an active community center environment where interruptions, conversations, and fluctuating noise levels are a regular part of daily operations. Our work includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and activities that extend beyond traditional business hours.

About GenPride

GenPride was built by and for a generation of LGBTQ+ people who figured life out together. We learned how to create community where none existed, advocate for their rights, care for one another, and navigate systems that were unwelcoming, actively hostile, or simply absent.

This generation of LGBTQ+ people, now age 50 and older, didn't wait for the world to be ready. We organized, built, advocated, and cared for one another. Today, this first "out" generation is once again in uncharted territory as we grow older in systems that were not designed with us in mind.

The generational qualities of LGBTQ+ elders, getting shit done, taking risks, challenging norms, and being determined and resourceful, are foundational to GenPride's culture.

Our work is grounded in a queer, intersectional, and power-building approach to aging. We center LGBTQ+ elder leadership and are committed to increasing belonging, safety, joy, and power for LGBTQ+ older adults.

The Volunteer & Elder Experience Coordinator reflects this spirit and these commitments in their efforts to support LGBTQ+ older adults live with safety, belonging, purpose, and joy.
