Test Lab Technician

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Position Reports To: Quality Manager

Summary Description:

• Set-up, adjust and operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, spectrometer, balance scales, polishing machine, tensile machine and other equipment to perform accurate testing of materials and evaluation of results as required by the Company’s quality policy manual and customer requirements


• Inspection of incoming Ingot and Weld Rod material for acceptance


• Test New and Reclaim Sand materials for Loss of Ignition, GFN


• Destructive Testing to include Machine of test bars to record tensile, yield and elongation


• Record test results on standardized forms and report test procedures used; prepare graphs and charts; maintain a log of all heat numbers; prepare paperwork for shipping and filing


• Perform Hardness testing


• Work with outside labs to complete additional testing, such as Elevated Temps or Round Robbin


• Product Certifications including Heat Treat CoC, Chemical Analysis and others


• Perform necessary verification/PM of laboratory equipment and maintain and clean equipment


• Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned
