Therapeutic Skills Coach (TSC)

The Therapeutic Skills Coach (TSC) reports to the Program Manager and provides direct behavioral interventions to support youth in achieving behavioral and emotional stability. The role focuses on skill-building, behavior tracking, and coaching youth and families within home, school, and community settings. In collaboration with the Child and Family Team (CFT), TSCs provide cross-setting care and supervision aimed at stabilizing behavior(s) and teaching functional skills to enable the child/youth to mitigate maladaptive behaviors. 

Humboldt NeuroHealth’s Post Adoptive Wraparound team is guided by the California and NWI Standards of High Fidelity Wraparound. Wraparound is a state-funded program that stabilizes at-risk families and prevents out-of-home placements post-adoption. We provide individualized, community based support tailored to each family's strengths, needs, and goals. Our mission is to empower families through collaborative, culturally competent, and individualized wraparound support, ensuring every voice is heard and every strength is celebrated.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides one-to-one therapeutic behavioral interventions for children as needed at home, school, or other community-based settings in accordance with the Treatment Plan. 


• Participates as a member of the Child and Family Team and works closely with all team members.


• Provides immediate behavioral reinforcement in accordance to Humboldt NeuroHealth’s theoretical framework and the Wraparound model. 


• Assists in teaching the parent(s), caregiver(s), CFT members and other natural supports the knowledge and skills necessary for the success of the child and family.


• Participates in weekly staff meetings, case consultations, and supervision as assigned. 


• Maintains organized progress notes for each client contact, submitting notes in a timely manner by the weekly deadline.


• Adheres to all Program policies and procedures as well as Humboldt NeuroHealth’s Code of Conduct. 


• Attends and participates in appropriate staff training programs; attends outside training events and conferences as requested.


• Adheres to the legal and ethical requirements of the mental health profession as outlined in the code of ethics and as deemed necessary by the agency.


• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA regulations in all matters within the organization with respect to personnel, operations and clients.


• May perform any other additional duties as assigned, including but not limited to case coverage for other specialists.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in related field (social work, sociology, child development, psychology, etc.)


• A minimum of one year related mental health experience working with children/adolescents who have severe emotional disturbance and/or behavioral challenges; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Ability to do behavioral assessments and behavior management, preferred but not required. 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

• Must also have a valid CA Driver’s License with a clean driving record, Proof of Insurance and abide by Humboldt NeuroHealth Therapeutic Service’s travel policy. 


• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. 


• Must have a good working understanding of child and adolescent development, behavior management, and family dynamics.


• Must have aptitude to address severe emotional/behavioral challenges in a variety of settings. 

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $22.00 - $31.00 per hour
