Job Description - Tool Designer


  • Design and develop tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support fabrication, welding, assembly, and machining operations.

  • Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance, and quality teams to identify tooling needs and develop practical solutions.

  • Review and improve existing tooling designs for performance, durability, and ease of use.

  • Specify materials, components, and processes for tooling fabrication.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal fabrication teams to ensure timely and cost-effective tooling builds.

  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing tooling layouts and ergonomics.

  • Maintain documentation and revision control for all tooling designs and related specifications.

  • Troubleshoot performance issues and provide on-floor support during implementation.

  • Ensure all designs comply with company safety standards and industry best practices.
