Tool Room Crib Attendant - 2nd Shift

This role in summary

The Crib Attendant is responsible for the organization, security, and distribution of company tools, equipment, and supplies. This role serves as a central hub for the production team, ensuring that technicians and operators have the correct materials to perform their jobs. The attendant monitors inventory levels, tracks high-value assets, and maintains a clean, orderly storage environment to minimize downtime and prevent loss.

Your responsibilities will include

• Inventory Management: Receive, unpack, and store incoming tools and supplies. Perform regular cycle counts and physical audits to ensure database accuracy.

• Issue & Return: Check out tools and equipment to employees and ensure they are returned in good condition. Track "lost" or "overdue" items.

• Procurement Support: Monitor stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions for consumable items (e.g., drill bits, safety glasses, gloves) before they run out.

• Quality Inspection: Visually inspect returned tools for wear or damage. Coordinate with maintenance for repairs or tag equipment for "Lockout/Tagout" if unsafe.

• Data Entry: Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or ERP software to log all transactions and update inventory records.

• Vendor Interaction: Coordinate with delivery drivers and outside vendors for tool sharpening or equipment calibration services.

Minimum requirements

Education: HS Diploma

• Endurance: Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces (warehouse/factory floors) for the duration of an 8- to 12-hour shift.

• Strength: Regularly lifting, pushing, and pulling boxes or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Manual Dexterity: Frequent reaching, bending, and climbing ladders or stools to access high shelving.

• Vision & Precision: High attention to detail for reading small part numbers, barcodes, and digital screens.

• Mobility: Ability to operate basic material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks or carts (and occasionally a forklift, if certified).
