Your Opportunity 

Stantec is seeking a highly motivated, ambitious, Traffic Engineer (PE). The position will offer the opportunity to work on small and large high-profile Transportation projects. You will perform a variety of tasks that will require the application of sound principles and best practices.  

Your Key Responsibilities

• Projects include traffic signal system design and re-timing, operational analysis, roadway capacity analysis, traffic safety studies, traffic signal, signing, and pavement marking and design, street lighting / illumination design, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), MOT compliance and monitoring.


• Prepare construction documents and cost estimates for City, County and State roadway and highway projects. 


• Perform complex engineering design tasks per Department of Transportation’s (DOT’s) design standards. 


• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the technical aspects of assigned projects. 


• Train developing staff on design and operational analysis software packages for traffic engineering projects.   

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer, SignCAD, and AGI-32.
• ProjectWise experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, including writing technical reports and memos using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong knowledge of the design/planning procedures, and PS&E plan production.
• Experience must include traffic operations and safety; highway capacity analysis; traffic operational analysis; Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); designing and implementing traffic signal system timings; and preparing PS&E plans. 
• Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation.
• Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) minimum.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Minimum of 5 years traffic engineering project experience.
