Trainer

The Trainer is responsible for delivering standardized training programs that prepare employees for safe, compliant, and productive work within operations across North America.

This role provides classroom instruction, regulatory training, commercial driver development, and hands-on practical awareness training focused on industrial vacuum services, high-pressure water-blasting, automated cleaning technologies, and associated field operations. Training activities are delivered through a combination of classroom learning, computer-based instruction, outdoor practical exercises, equipment demonstrations, and simulated field environments.

The Trainer plays a critical role in developing workforce readiness by ensuring employees understand operational procedures, hazard recognition, equipment fundamentals, regulatory requirements, and company expectations before progressing into field mentorship and competency assessment programs.

Working closely with Academy Operations, Program Managers, Operations Leadership, HSE, and field mentors, the Trainer helps establish a consistent training experience and supports the development of a highly skilled workforce across North America.

Industrial Services Operations Training

• Deliver standardized training programs supporting operations across multiple business lines.
• Facilitate classroom and practical training focused on safe work practices, operational awareness, hazard recognition, and workforce readiness.
• Deliver company-developed curriculum and training programs in accordance with established standards.
• Reinforce operational excellence, safety culture, professionalism, and teamwork throughout all training activities.

• Prepare employees for successful integration into field operations and mentorship programs.

   

Industrial Vacuum Services Training

• Deliver classroom and practical awareness training related to industrial vacuum operations.
• Instruct employees on vacuum truck components, system fundamentals, equipment capabilities, and operational limitations.
• Demonstrate proper vacuum setup, hose management, material transfer operations, equipment inspections, and shutdown procedures.
• Reinforce safe work practices associated with vacuum operations, including confined space considerations, line-of-fire hazards, energy isolation, communication protocols, and environmental controls.
• Facilitate hands-on exercises utilizing vacuum equipment and supporting tools in controlled training environments.

• Promote safe operation around positive displacement blowers, filtration systems, vacuum tanks, and associated equipment

   

High-Pressure Water blasting Training

• Deliver classroom and practical awareness training related to high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure water blasting operations.
• Instruct employees on system components, pump fundamentals, pressure generation, hose management, tooling selection, and operational procedures.
• Demonstrate proper equipment setup, inspection, startup, operation, and shutdown activities.
• Reinforce critical safety controls associated with high-pressure water, including exclusion zones, communication requirements, line-of-fire awareness, emergency shutdown procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Facilitate practical training exercises utilizing water blasting equipment and supporting accessories.

• Promote understanding of hazard recognition and risk mitigation associated with high-pressure operations.

   

Automated & Specialty Water blasting Systems Training

• Deliver awareness and operational training on specialty water blasting technologies and automated cleaning systems.
• Facilitate training on automated and semi-automated tooling systems designed to reduce employee exposure to high-pressure hazards.
• Demonstrate proper setup, operation, inspection, and maintenance requirements for specialty tooling and automation systems.
• Reinforce safe operating practices associated with remote-operated and automated cleaning technologies.
• Support organizational initiatives focused on innovation, automation, and exposure reduction within Industrial Services operations.

Commercial Driver Development

• Deliver training supporting the development of CDL/Class A/Class 1 operators.
• Facilitate instruction related to commercial vehicle inspections, defensive driving, hours-of-service requirements, transportation compliance, and safe vehicle operation.
• Conduct practical vehicle familiarization activities and driver development exercises.
• Coach employees on professional driving behaviors and company vehicle operating expectations.

• Support employees preparing for internal driver qualification requirements and external licensing examinations where applicable.

   

Regulatory & Compliance Training

• Deliver regulatory and compliance-based training programs as authorized and qualified.
• Facilitate occupational health and safety, environmental, transportation, and industry-specific compliance training.
• Ensure training is delivered in accordance with applicable legislation, certification requirements, and company standards.

• Maintain required instructor certifications and qualifications.

   

Learner Development & Coaching

• Provide coaching and constructive feedback throughout training activities.
• Identify employees requiring additional development, support, or remediation.
• Communicate learner participation, engagement, and readiness observations to leadership as required.
• Encourage safe work habits, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.

• Support employee development throughout the onboarding and training process.

   

Training Administration

• Complete attendance records, training documentation, learner evaluations, and associated administrative requirements.
• Ensure all training records are completed accurately and submitted within required timelines.
• Support training audits, compliance reviews, and documentation requirements.

• Coordinate with Training Coordinators to ensure training records remain accurate and current.

   

Equipment & Training Yard Management

• Maintain training equipment, vehicles, tools, automation systems, and practical learning resources.
• Conduct inspections of training equipment and facilities before use.
• Support setup and teardown of practical exercises and field simulations.

• Ensure training yards and learning environments remain safe, organized, and operationally representative,

   

Continuous Improvement

• Provide feedback regarding curriculum effectiveness, learner performance trends, and training opportunities.
• Support development of new industrial services training programs and practical exercises.
• Participate in instructor development and train-the-trainer initiatives.
• Assist with standardization efforts across all Training Academy locations.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Adult Education, Operations, Transportation, or a related field is considered an asset.

   

Experience

• 1-5 years of Industrial Services operational experience.
• Demonstrated experience in industrial vacuum operations and/or high-pressure water blasting operations.
• Experience operating commercial vehicles and industrial equipment preferred.
• Previous training, mentoring, coaching, or leadership experience preferred.

• Experience working with automated cleaning technologies and specialty tooling considered an asset.

   

Certifications

• Clean Driver’s abstract required for light duty fleet operation.
• Valid CDL license preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required instructor certifications.

• Industry-specific certifications as required by assigned training programs.

   

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of Industrial Services operations.
• Thorough knowledge of vacuum and high-pressure water blasting safety practices.
• Strong facilitation, presentation, and coaching abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to instruct both classroom and outdoor practical training activities.
• Strong organizational and administrative capabilities.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
