Job Description - Training Coordinator

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a clerical support position OR two years previous manufacturing, safety, training, human resources, maintenance, or hourly leadership role.

  • Proven experience delivering training, facilitating groups, coaching employees, or coordinating training activities.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and recordkeeping skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to work effectively with hourly and salaried employees across multiple departments.

  • Ability to interpret and follow safety, quality, and operational procedures.

  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments as needed.

  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as conditions require.

  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and at heights when conditions warrant.

  • A current resume or detailed listing of education and work history is required for consideration.

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Safety, Education, Human Resources, Business, Operations Management, or related field.

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

  • Experience developing training materials and qualification programs.

  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and manufacturing safety programs.

  • Experience in wood products or industrial manufacturing operations.

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Training Coordinator for the Natchitoches Engineered Wood Products manufacturing facility located in Natchitoches, LA. The Training Coordinator is a full-time, hourly non-exempt role that reports to the site Safety Manager, with a strong dotted line to the HR Business Partner. This role is responsible for coordinating, administering, and continuously improving the site's training and qualification programs with a primary focus on safety training, on-the-job training, Job Instructions (JIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and workforce development. This position partners with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Quality, and Human Resources to help associates receive the training, coaching, and qualification necessary to perform their jobs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and site procedures. The Training Coordinator serves as a collaborative partner for training systems, records management, qualification tracking, and training effectiveness, while relying on Safety, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and other functional leaders for subject matter expertise.

The pay rate for this role is $28.48 per hour.

Key Functions:

  • Coordinate and administer all required site safety training programs.

  • Schedule, track, and maintain compliance with required safety training.

  • Support new hire safety orientation and onboarding programs.

  • Partner with site Safety leadership to identify training needs resulting from incidents, audits, observations, corrective actions, and risk assessments.

  • Coordinate refresher training and recertification requirements.

  • Ensure training materials remain current with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain records of all safety training and associated documentation.

  • Manage the site's OJT and qualification process in collaboration with HR Business Partner/HR Admin.

  • Develop, maintain, and improve OJT training guides, qualification checklists, and training matrices in collaboration with Department Managers.

  • Ensure OJT follows established safety, quality, and operational standards.

  • Verify training documentation is completed accurately and submitted in accordance with site procedures.

  • Monitor trainee progress and provide updates to supervisors and managers.

  • Conduct periodic audits of OJT programs to verify consistency and effectiveness.

  • Maintain training matrices, qualification records, and employee skill inventories.

  • Coordinate training associated with Job Instructions (JIs), SOPs, and work processes.

  • Ensure required training is assigned and completed before employees perform work independently.

  • Track qualification due dates, expirations, recertifications, and retraining requirements.

  • Partner with department leadership to identify skill gaps and training priorities.

  • Support implementation of revised procedures by coordinating required training.

  • Assist in maintaining the site’s training databases and learning management systems.

  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical training records.

  • Generate training compliance reports for leadership.

  • Monitor overdue training and communicate completion requirements.

  • Support regulatory, corporate, and internal audits by providing training records and reports.

  • Analyze training data and recommend improvements to increase compliance and effectiveness.

  • Assist with development of structured learning paths for hourly and salaried employees.

  • Support apprenticeship, certification, cross-training, and skill-based pay programs.

  • Coordinate classroom, virtual, and hands-on training events with the department stakeholders.

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning throughout the facility.

  • Other duties as assigned.
