GBX Consultants, Inc. is accepting resumes for Transition Counselors at Ft. Stewart. There are multiple positions available.
The Army Transition Assistance Program (TAP) provides members of the Armed Forces with the highest quality of services, training, and transition support to make their transition from the military into civilian life a success. The Transition Counselor serves as the primary case manager from initial counseling through Capstone validation, helping each client complete required activities, develop a practical transition plan, meet Career Readiness Standards, and connect to appropriate resources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct initial counseling, assess transition readiness, interpret assessment results, and assign the appropriate tier level in accordance with Army TAP requirements.
Help clients develop, update, and execute Individual Transition Plans aligned to employment, education, entrepreneurship, vocational, and personal goals.
Deliver one-on-one counseling, group instruction, briefings, workshops, and virtual services using Government-approved curriculum and materials.
Maintain continuous case engagement and required contact cadence from enrollment through Capstone and transition completion.
Guide clients in completing Career Readiness Standards and required documentation, including DD Form 2648 and associated records.
Schedule and reschedule appointments, follow up on missed services, identify barriers, and coordinate appropriate interventions.
Document all services, milestones, assessments, referrals, warm handovers, and follow-on actions accurately and on time in the designated system of record.
Coordinate warm handovers to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Labor, education providers, employment resources, community partners, and other agencies as appropriate.
Support client intake, registration, classroom logistics, attendance, records management, surveys, and other administrative functions needed for compliant delivery.
Participate in quality reviews, training, reporting, outreach, mobile support, and surge coverage as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
At least two years of experience counseling or advising individuals regarding benefits, employment, education, career planning, military transition, or community resources.
Knowledge of counseling principles, case management, adult learning, career development, and military-to-civilian transition challenges.
Ability to facilitate groups and provide effective in-person and virtual instruction.
Strong interpersonal, documentation, time-management, computer, and customer service skills.
Ability to manage a caseload, meet deadlines, protect personally identifiable information, and maintain accurate records.
Ability to obtain and maintain required Government suitability, installation access, Common Access Card, and system access.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior military service, military spouse experience, or direct experience supporting Service members, veterans, and families.
Knowledge of Army TAP curriculum, Career Readiness Standards, Capstone, SkillBridge/Career Skills Programs, and interagency transition resources.
Professional certification in career counseling, workforce development, coaching, human resources, or a related discipline.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must undergo a background investigation (National Agency Check) conducted by the federal government.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
May support in-person, virtual, mobile, or itinerant delivery and may require limited travel.
Must be able to work with clients who have diverse goals, readiness levels, and complex transition needs.
PHYSICIAL DEMANDS
Standing and sitting for long periods of time.
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling of up to 10 lbs.
Oral communication over the phone and in person.
Alpha/numeric keyboarding.
Ability to view computer monitor.
