This role is for that teacher.

A school in Cedarhurst, New York is looking for a Special Education Teacher to work with students ages 12 to 21 in an ungraded setting. This is a contract position starting August 26, 2026.

What you will be doing:

• Providing specialized instruction aligned with each student's IEP


• Developing and implementing differentiated lesson plans based on academic and functional abilities


• Using positive behavior management strategies to support student success


• Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate documentation


• Collaborating with related service providers, paraprofessionals, administrators and families


• Participating in IEP meetings, annual reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings


• Modifying curriculum and assessments to meet diverse learning needs


• Maintaining compliance with New York State special education regulations

What you need to bring:

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education grades 7 to 12 or Elementary grades 1 to 6


• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education or a related field


• Master's degree preferred


• Experience implementing IEPs and working with multidisciplinary teams


• Previous experience working with adolescents and young adults with special needs preferred


• Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills

This is a full time onsite contract role in Cedarhurst, New York starting August 26, 2026.
