Responsibilities:

The Transport Associate is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compassionate transportation of patients within INTEGRIS Health. This role is integral to the smooth operation of hospital functions, providing essential support to clinical teams while ensuring a positive patient experience. The Transport Associate ensures that patients are transported securely, promptly, and comfortably to and from various hospital departments, including clinical, ancillary, and support services.

As part of INTEGRIS Health, the Transport Associate aligns with the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values, supporting hospital-wide strategic initiatives, contributing to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and adhering to Key Process Standard Work to improve operational efficiency, patient safety, and the overall patient experience. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires. 

Patient Transportation:

• Safely transport patients to and from various hospital departments, including surgery, radiology, diagnostic services, and patient rooms, in alignment with INTEGRIS Health’s Patient-Centered Care Initiative.
• Assist patients with mobility needs using transport equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity.
• Monitor patient conditions during transport and report any changes promptly to nursing staff or other health care team members.
• Respond to emergency situations using CPR and first-aid techniques, if necessary, and promptly call for additional assistance.
• Follow INTEGRIS Health's Standard Work Procedures for patient transport to ensure compliance with quality and safety protocols.
• May transport medications, ensuring proper handling and security during transport.

Communication and Coordination:

• Collaborate with nursing staff, clinical teams, and ancillary departments to coordinate patient transport, ensuring smooth transitions between hospital departments.
• Communicate effectively regarding patient departure and arrival times, providing status updates to health care teams as needed.
• Assist nursing staff in preparing patients for transport and ensuring that all necessary equipment (e.g., oxygen, IVs) is in place.
• Report patient transport issues or delays, providing real-time information to facilitate prompt resolution.

Safety and Equipment Maintenance:

• Follow INTEGRIS Health’s safety protocols and Key Process Standard Work when transporting patients and handling medical equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control procedures.
• Ensure all transport equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, stretchers, transport carts) is sanitized, in good working condition, and regularly maintained.
• Adhere to supplemental oxygen safety protocols and ensure oxygen equipment is handled safely during patient transport.
• Perform weekly cleaning and inspection of transport equipment as part of INTEGRIS Health’s Infection Control Initiative to reduce the risk of contamination and ensure patient safety.

Other Responsibilities:

• Perform other duties as assigned by department leadership to ensure efficient operations, including assisting with hospital-wide initiatives and projects related to patient care or safety.
• Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay current with health care standards, INTEGRIS Health’s policies, and advancements in patient transport technology.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• BLS (Basic Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association

SKILLS: 

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and health care staff.
• Ability to safely transport patients using appropriate equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
• Knowledge of INTEGRIS Health’s medication handling protocols and the ability to transport medications securely.
• Basic understanding of hospital safety protocols, HIPAA regulations, and infection control procedures.
• Ability to lift, move, and assist patients using proper body mechanics and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and patient care, ensuring comfort and safety during transport.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:

• Prior experience in patient transport, health care, or customer service preferred but not required.
