If operating state-owned vehicle, must show proof of valid driver's license OR must provide own transportation.

Requires valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration of Professional Engineers & Surveyors.

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period.

Position will be filled pursuant to the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

Transportation Engineer 1 - Planning/Traffic Safety, PN 20060609

What You Will Do:

  • Review & design simple plans for proposed highway construction projects in the Planning & Programs Office.

  • Performs traffic engineering studies (e.g., safety, speed, capacity, parking, corridor, developer, fatal, signal, permit, etc.)

  • Performs field inspections to analyze physical conditions and collect data.

  • Prepares work orders.

  • Prepares reports, plans and exhibits for public meetings & attends public meetings.

  • Respond to written inquiries from the public and governmental officials.

  • Monitors and updates progress for status reports (e.g., safety annual work plan).
