Traveling Senior MEP Superintendent - Mission Critical

SUMMARY

Ajax Building Company, part of STO Building Group, is seeking a hands-on Traveling Senior MEP Superintendent to lead field operations on mission critical projects, primarily across the Southeast. This role leads mechanical, electrical, and plumbing field operations, coordinates subcontractors and trades, and ensures complex building systems are installed safely, on schedule, and to project quality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Lead and coordinate daily MEP field operations, including subcontractors, manpower, materials, equipment, and trade sequencing.
• Oversee MEP work to ensure installation aligns with drawings, specifications, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Interpret construction documents, resolve field issues, and provide technical guidance on complex MEP systems and installation methods.
• Coordinate MEP work with other trades, project management, clients, and inspectors, with particular attention to system integration in mission critical environments.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and resource needs; address issues that could affect project milestones.
• Enforce safety requirements, document concerns, and coordinate corrective actions with Safety leadership.
• Oversee MEP layout, field engineering, and coordination activities.
• Review field documentation, purchase requisitions, subcontractor work, and change requests as applicable.
• Support project procedures, reporting, and turnover activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ years of construction supervisory experience, with a strong background in mechanical and/or electrical systems.
• Strong experience leading MEP field work on data center projects through construction and turnover.
• Willingness to travel and stay near project sites for extended assignments, primarily in the Southeast.
• Experience with a commercial general contractor or MEP subcontractor preferred.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, construction methods, trade coordination, sequencing, and applicable safety requirements.
• Ability to lead subcontractors, solve field challenges, and communicate effectively with project teams and clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must have the ability to perform the following tasks:

  • Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers.

  • See well (either naturally or with correction).

  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.

  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height.

  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
