Job Description - UA Tech (Men's)

Description

  

Summary/objective

The UA Tech is responsible for collecting and preparing urine samples.

Essential functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Perform urine toxicology specimen collection following program procedures including strict adherence to protocols for testing      same or differing genders
  • Provide high level of professional service including demonstration of respect for clients' privacy and creation of an      atmosphere of dignity and client safety
  • Interact with clients and staff in a professional and respectful manner
  • Organize workflow to ensure efficient and accurate testing
  • Assure chain of custody compliance prior to submission for testing
  • Ensure compliance with quality control and quality improvement protocols to affect highest quality client care
  • Order and maintain stock of UA testing materials following purchase policies
  • Accurately complete data entry requirements 
  • Schedule clients UAs and disseminate information to appropriate counselor or program director
  • Assure clients confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Collaborate with program director and team members to address quality of service issues and to implement internal quality      improvement projects or monitoring
  • Maintain and update technical knowledge skills by actively participating in supervision and attending staff meetings
  • Achieve outcomes using methods that align with Emergence mission and values
  • Communicate accurately and positively about recovery and the use of evidence-based treatments
    • Use data and science to identify barriers, overcome obstacles, and inform decisions
    • Be financially responsible; avoid waste, document accurately, seek new       opportunities to serve
    • Demonstrate compassion and respect for others

  • Ability to be attentive to and identify high risk situations, communicating with the appropriate team members in a timely      manner
  • Ability to intervene in a way that demonstrates sensitivity and respect while keeping a clear line of communication between supervisor and treatment team

  • Recognize and respect cultural and personal differences in interactions with clients
  • Demonstrated verbal and written skills adequate for communicating specimen collection, handling specimens, maintaining patient records, and communicating with team members
  • Demonstrate knowledge of accepted principles of client record management
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to adhere to established principles of client safety
  • Ability to maintain professional communications and boundaries while managing complex situations and interacting with      individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder or co-occurring conditions
  • Ability to utilize both oral and written communications skills to effectively communicate with clients, co-workers, community      resources, supervisors, and various other individuals encountered while performing work, and maintaining patient confidentiality and establishing professional rapport
  • Ability to operate a computer, utilize basic MS Office programs, and effectively navigate and maintain patient records in an      electronic medical records system

Work takes place in a professional office setting

Physical demands

  • Must be able to apply critical elements of Standard Precautions. This includes personal protective equipment and following      safety procedures while interacting directly with clients
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs., reach, bend, and handle objects with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to operate a personal computer, including reading from a computer monitor, keyboarding, and using a mouse.

Travel required

· Occasional travel to other Emergence locations for training or meetings may be required


Requirements

  

Required education and experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred education and experience

  • Basic First Aid and CPR 
  • Crisis prevention certification
  • Previous experience working with SUD and/or mental health clients

Additional eligibility requirements

Must be able to pass a UA and criminal background check

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
