UX & Marketing Designer

The Opportunity

Well thought-out product concepts are the launchpad for consumer product development. Simplehuman is seeking a UX & Marketing Designer to drive product concept development within our exploratory division – an internal incubator that demonstrates potential future products to help shape company strategy. Working alongside our Engineering and Design team, this role will bring user experience and marketing design thinking into the creation of functional demo products: designing user experiences and user stories, creating example marketing material, and developing product positioning and go-to-market strategies. The team will use these demonstrations to decide which products move forward into further development.

This is an ideal role for an out-of-the-box thinker with strong design judgment and solid fundamentals who wants to be the trailblazer of a new unit – using UX and marketing design to drive better product decisions that impact major company direction. This is a full-time, onsite position in our Torrance, CA office.

What You'll Own

• Work within weekly sprints to support product concept demonstrations from a UX & marketing perspective


• Ideate and present user experience options based on personal design judgment, market research, and requested experience elements


• Create detailed user experience flows from loosely defined product ideas, in close collaboration with the team – these flows guide our technical prototype development team


• Ideate and present product positioning, marketing, and go-to-market strategies


• Create mock marketing material for product concept demonstrations

What We're Looking For

• Entry level; experience with personal projects and/or entrepreneurial ventures is a must


• Experience with tools such as Figma, Canva, Adobe Suite, Photoshop, KeyShot, Blender, or similar


• Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, UX Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or similar is a plus


• 1-3 years of experience with marketing, brand strategy, and product positioning is a plus


• 1-3 years of experience in an entrepreneurial new product development environment (startup, incubator, or similar) is a plus


• User-centric creativity – puts the user experience first and solves user problems without being limited by what exists on the market today


• Visual storytelling – communicates ideas through story rather than abstracts, using visual and physical elements to drive the story


• Autonomy and ownership – drives projects toward goals and deliverables with minimal guidance, pushing to get whatever resources are needed


• Precise communication – asks targeted questions, answers directly, and is willing to voice concerns and risks or ask for help
