BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our thriving Surgery department in Levittown, PA!

**This role requires someone who can manage sit ASA III-V cases, TIVA or partial TIVA, place arterial lines, and place triple lumens.**

Pay: $24.93 - $44.91 / hour

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will: 

• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.  

• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions. 

• Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance. 

• Perform physical exam; accurately counts pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. 

• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal. 

• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s, operate all brands of fluid pumps and can trouble shoot errors.

• Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management. 

• Comfortable with medical math. 

• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery) 

• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc. 

• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
