Job Description - Virtual Platform Administrator

Job Description and Responsibilities


Manages and maintains virtualized infrastructure across on-premises data centers and private, public, and hybrid cloud environments. Implements, upgrades, patches, and troubleshoots hosts, hypervisors, virtual machines, applications, and supporting infrastructure across development, test, pre-production, and production environments. Monitors system health, performance, capacity, and availability; automates administrative tasks and optimizes virtualized environments to ensure stability, security, and performance. Maintains accurate system configurations and documentation, supports capacity planning and performance tuning, and contributes to virtualization disaster recovery and fault-tolerance planning.




Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)



  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies, hypervisors, virtual machines, and supporting infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

  • Ability to implement, upgrade, patch, and maintain virtualized systems across development, test, and production environments.

  • Ability to monitor and troubleshoot virtualization infrastructure to maintain system availability, stability, security, and performance.

  • Knowledge of cloud computing and private, public, and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Ability to perform capacity planning, performance analysis, tuning, and optimization of virtualized systems.

  • Knowledge of virtualization disaster recovery, fault tolerance, configuration management, and system documentation practices.

  • Candidate must communicate effectively with team members, team lead, management, and government customers

  • Must have the ability and desire to research and develop creative solutions to unique problems with minimal supervision




Minimum Training, Education, and Certifications



  • Seven (7) years of progressive experience in the management and maintenance of virtualized server environments and hosted applications. At least two years of qualifying experience must include managing successful large scale, multi-disciplinary (network, virtualization, systems administration) projects involving virtual servers



  • DOD 8570 baseline certification - IAT Level II




Minimum Clearance



  • Top Secret
