Visiting Faculty (18-36 month appointment)

This Position Exists to:  

Effectively help students acquire the knowledge and skills associated with the designated program objectives. The successful candidate will spend a significant portion of their time developing the curriculum and administering the program. This position is a full-time temporary 18-36 month appointment.  

  

Requirements for Employment Eligibility:  

  • Committed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  

  • Worthiness to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend. 

  • Receive clearance from the Church Educational System (CES) Ecclesiastical Clearance Office. 

  • Adhere to company policies and abide by CES Dress and Grooming Standards.  

  • Committed to the purpose of Ensign College to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ 

  • Resides in Utah and is able to work at our downtown Salt Lake City campus. 

  

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree in business management, strategy, marketing, professional sales or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.  

  • Industry and teaching experience in business, strategy, marketing, or professional sales 

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, organizational, writing, and computer skills.  

  • Ability to apply field-related skills to developing and advancing course content and delivery.  

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Prior college-level teaching, curriculum/course development, and program assessment experience 

  

Essential Job Functions:  

  • Oversees assigned academic programs which include course scheduling, adjunct instructor recruitment and development, curriculum development, Program Advisory Board (PAB) recruitment, annual program assessment (APA) preparation/evaluation, and BYU-Pathway and Prison Education Program support. 

  • Strives to become an architect of learning, including a master teacher, a master mentor for adjunct faculty, and a master designer of the curriculum.  

  • Keeps abreast of developments in the applicable field by reading current literature, counseling with colleagues, and participating in professional organizations and conferences. 

  • Focuses the classroom experience on immersive learning as opposed to lecture-style learning.  

  • Attentive to grading timeliness and providing helpful student feedback.  

  • Serves as a mentor for assigned adjunct faculty through regular classroom observations, one-on-one developmental sessions, and providing guidance for completing Professional Development Plans. 

  • Serves on college-wide committees as assigned. 

  • Attends regularly scheduled faculty meetings, workshops, and weekly Devotionals 

  • Mentors students as they determine career goals and seek academic advice. Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.   

  • Provides flexible, responsive, and high-quality service to all students, staff, and community, and continuously assesses processes and procedures and revises accordingly. 

  • Provides advising and judging support for campus or club business plan competitions. 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Passionate about serving the rising generation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

  • Seamlessly integrate gospel principles into discussions on secular topics. 

  • Eager for face-to-face, one-on-one coaching and guiding opportunities. 

  • Experience with business plan creation, validation, and execution. 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

  • Bilingual is a plus, but not mandatory. 

  • Familiar with AI models and how students can ethically leverage AI resources in professional settings.
