MUST HAVES
- High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of operations and underwriting experience required
- FHA DE Chums required; VA SAR preferred
- Knowledge of investor and program requirements and guidelines
- Previous supervisory experience required including communicating with other managers to ensure productivity
- Understanding of all aspects of residential lending Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and Non-Conforming programs
- Working knowledge of product guidelines including but not limited to Non-Conforming, FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines, to assist in rectifying file solutions/problems
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and provide information to resolve the situation
- Able to interact with diverse teams across the enterprise to affect process improvement and to ensure compliance
- Proven leadership skills, with emphasis on collaboration, solution-based analysis, organization, and time management
- Able to read and interpret various loan documents such as promissory notes, regulatory and legal directives, and other loan documents
- Able to apply basic math; calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages
- Basic computer skills required: word processing, Excel spreadsheets, email, and mortgage software
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Oversee the functions of residential underwriting and manage underwriting team at the regional level
- Assist and support functions of residential underwriting to make sure files transfer as efficiently as possible
- Assist in managing the underwriting team including coaching, mentoring, and training
- Reinforce underwriting turnaround times by holding the team accountable to expectations
- Assist with team’s workload and pipeline management as needed
- Support in answering the Scenario email and Underwriting queue for new submissions, appraisal submissions and conditions flow
- Act as a main point of contact and liaison for underwriters, branches, sales, and post-closing file submissions status
- Review and sign off on underwriting and closing conditions as they are met
- Respond to originator/processor questions regarding loan programs, clarification of loan conditions and status of loans in process
- Support implementation of underwriting outsourcing
- Review files from insuring and shipping, including answering questions or identifying missing documentation necessary to ensure salability
- Work with national operations team to effectively improve processes and work effectiveness
- Other duties and/or mortgage related tasks as assigned by management
