The Warehouse Assistant Manager supports daily warehouse operations while actively participating in the physical handling of lumber and wood products. This role blends leadership responsibilities with hands-on tasks such as receiving shipments, organizing inventory, and loading materials for delivery

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Warehouse Manager in overseeing daily warehouse operations.
• Supervise warehouse staff and ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to optimize logistics and minimize delays.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and participate in cycle counts.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Monitor workflow and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Train and mentor warehouse employees, promoting teamwork and productivity.
• Assist in resolving any operational or logistical issues.
• Communicate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments.
• Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of warehouse equipment and facilities.
• Generate reports on inventory, shipments, and operational performance.
• Assist in scheduling and workforce planning to meet operational demands.
• Perform administrative tasks related to warehouse operations as needed.
• This is a full-time, on-site role at our Sparrows Point, MD facility

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in logistics or management is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in a warehouse, with supervisory and hands on experience preferred.
• Certification and experience in operating a forklift required.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and procedures.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects when necessary.

Compensation

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 annually
