Job Description - Warehouse Metal Worker

Job summary:


The responsibilities of a forging engineer includes working on the design and development of, and providing technical support for manufacturing processes, that involve forging or forming materials. Your duties may also include performing cost analysis and coming up with a quote for each project. As a forging engineer, you may be involved in process validation and developing or choosing tools and equipment for each project based on cost and time restrictions. 


 


You will be required to set up and operate equipment in which hot metal that is to be shaped into something useful is held in place on a die or metal form. You will shape heated metal stock into forgings on power hammer or press, equipped with open dies, applying your knowledge of forging techniques and physical properties of metal, following work orders, diagrams, or specifications, and using measuring instruments and hand tools.


 


May observe color of metal in furnace to determine forging temperature, and signals heater to pull metal from furnace. You will verify dimensions of forging, using rule and calipers. May forge cold metal.


 


Candidates must be comfortable working with machines that generate heat and around hot forgings. Must have steel toe shoes and study workwear to get started.
