Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

 

  • Expert abilities in web publishing, thorough knowledge of web page constructions, including thorough knowledge of Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), CSS, and graphics packages such as the Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.

  • Ability to research and analyze a variety of website issues and implement solutions through sound judgment.

  • Meet minimum qualifications:

    • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Information Technology, English, Communications, Information Management, Marketing, or a closely related field.

    • Two years of progressively responsible related experience in professional web-based content management, including web page layout, content, and design; electronic/web publishing or web editing and content management, and internet research.

    • Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

    • Preferred work experience includes Figma, Canva, graphic design, writing web content, electronic marketing, metadata, designing or maintaining websites, and social media.

    • Preferred strong knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG compliance guidelines, with experience creating accessible digital content and remediating non-compliant documents, platforms or assets.

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Director’s Office, under the Chief of Staff.

 

The Website Designer supports staff across all of the agency’s divisions to implement the agency website design as part of the Website Redesign and Improvement Project. While working with the Communications Office (CO) team and agency website editors and publishers, the incumbent will join the ongoing effort to improve the website's overall design and structure. Essential technical skills include expert abilities in website page design, web publishing, thorough knowledge of web page construction, and strong project management skills. Duties include working with others in the CO to ensure the website's usability, accessibility, and performance. This position will also contribute to the effort to provide training for staff to ensure documents are Section 508 compliant. The position supports Moodle, GovDelivery, and AccessGov and assists with posting visualizations created in ARC-GIS and dashboards created in Tableau to the agency website.
