Website Link Review Assistant

$28 - $30 per hour · Remote

A website link should take a visitor where its wording says it will. This position checks assigned pages for links that fail, open an unrelated page, or point to outdated material. You will document what you find and hand the information to the person authorized to update the website. You are not expected to code, redesign pages, or decide what a new destination should be.

What you check

• Open the assigned online page and identify its text and button links.
• Follow each link in the scope of the review.
• Compare the destination with the link’s visible description.
• Record broken pages, incorrect destinations, or unclear results.
• Include the source page and link text in a useful note.
• Recheck a corrected link when a revised page is supplied.

Some links open a document rather than another webpage. Check that the document loads and appears to be the one named. If a page requires access you do not have, report that limitation instead of marking the link good or bad by guesswork. A website might also have several buttons labelled “learn more”; identify which one you tested by its page section or surrounding words.

Record the problem clearly

• Where the visitor starts.
• What the link promises or says.
• Where it actually leads, or what error appears.
• Whether the issue was checked again after a change.

Good office administration here means maintaining an orderly review list that someone else can use. Customer service thinking matters too: visitors rely on links to find answers, and an accurate description of a problem helps the team repair their path. You should check the visible page as an ordinary user would while staying within the assigned scope.

How the work moves

You may receive a list of pages to review, make notes as you test them, and send the findings to a website editor. If a link has been intentionally removed or a new page is still pending, the editor can decide what to do. After changes are made, you might check the affected pages again. Keep the old finding separate from the new result, so the team can tell whether an issue is still open.

A page can contain the same link in a menu, a body paragraph, and a footer. If your assignment covers all three, test each placement and report the location precisely. One link might be corrected while another still leads to an outdated page. Where the destination itself has changed but the visible wording has not, flag that mismatch as well. The editor needs a concrete observation; deciding the new copy remains with the content owner.

Background and arrangements

• Comfort using a browser and moving between tabs.
• Careful written descriptions of what you observed.
• Ability to follow an assigned page list without inventing content.
• Private handling of unreleased links in a home office or suitable space.

Prior website work is helpful but not required. Customer service or office administration experience can transfer, and beginners are welcome. The employer can teach its checking sheet and reporting process. Both part-time and full-time schedules are possible; the hiring company will confirm actual hours.

Show your eye for detail

Relevant experience can be as simple as checking a website, spotting a broken link, and reporting where it appeared. If you have done that in a job, class, or volunteer project, make it easy to find on your application. Previous web development employment is not necessary.
